Alan has been songwriting and performing music for over 45 years. He has written with many major writers including Dave Watkins

('It's so Easy' Andy Williams), Steve Wolfe ('Lost in France', 'It's a Heartache' Bonnie Tyler), Ronnie Scott ('I'm a Tiger' Lulu, 'Jezamine' The Casuals) and composed many songs for Educational productions for schools across the UK. He appeared on ATV television's 'Youth calls the Tune' with TV host/Radio DJ Pete Murray, Eurovision singer Clodagh Rogers and Radio Luxembourg's Tony Brandon, achieving the Duke of Edinburgh's Award for Songwriting in1970 performing his own composition 'live' on air entitled 'On My Own'. He then went on to record with Tom Jones'es producer Peter Sullivan and was signed under recording contract to AIR London studio's in Oxford Street, London for two years. Alan was signed to Valley Music Publishers in Piccadilly, London and ATV Music Publishers in Bruton Street, Mayfair.

It was here that Alan met a multitude of people in the music industry such as Cyril Symmonds, Don Agnes, Bob Newby, Tony Prior, Ronnie Scott, Len Beadle, Dave Watkins to name but a few.

Alan went on to become A&R Manager for Liverpool Sound Enterprises in Liverpool and subsequently went on to produce records for everything from songwriting Norweigian sailors to Ice Cream Van Music for clients. During his two years here, he also recorded songs for the 'Mayer Sisters' ('My Donnie lies over the ocean') on the DOT record label and worked with many major bands in the city of that time such as 'Strife', 'The Harlems', 'Sunshine', 'Silver Train' and 'Regency Kream'. He also helped to produce an LP featuring the famous actor 'Patrick Allen' commemorating the 25th Anniversary of the birth of Israel for Peter Hepworth of the famous Frank Hessey music store in Liverpool. Whilst at the studio, Alan was privilaged to have 60' star 'Billy Fury' record some demos of his new songs, which was a memorable occasion for himself and Charles Weston the Sound Engineer. Alan introduced many LSE acts to Chappells Music Publishers (Stuart Reid) and became friends with Peter Shelley (Magnet Records, Alvin Stardust) during his time at the studio.

His major success at LSE was the recording of a 'Tom O'Connor' LP, 'live' at the studio with an audience. This led to to a huge business opportunity on Merseyside for him and through the popularity of this product, Alan formed Liverpool's first proper record label called 'Stag Music'.Alan managed to get the legendary 'Frankie Vaughan' to support his LSE record and he posed for photographs with 'Tom O'Connor in Alan's office in the studio. Alan was later to become heavily involved with Frankie's son David at London Management in Regent Street, London, promoting and recording various acts from Liverpool. Alan was introduced to 'Billy Marsh' at London Management and spent an afternoon with him at his office overlooking the 'Talk of the Town' discussing future association between his company Stag Music and London Management.London Management & Stag Music went on to hold a shop-window for Liverpool acts at the Talk of the Town. To say the least, Alan was a little star-struck when he was introduced to the legend 'Stephane Grappelli' who was visiting Billy Marsh on that same day, as Grappelli was one of Alan's all time hero's with Django Rhenhardt and the 'Hot Club du Paris'. Alan met Frankie Vaughan on a number of occasions after that, visiting his beautiful home in Totteridge and had breakfast with him at the Prince of Wales hotel that he was staying at in Southport while he was appearing in Cabaret for a week in Liverpool.

Stag Music traded for over 5 years from 1973-1978 and produced an amazing variety of music and recording genres from a series of Comedians, Folk Music, Country music, heavy rock, Jazz and Choirs to contempory performers.

Alan was also responsible for securing the rights to the recording of 'The Last Night at the Cavern Club' which was recorded by Wayne Bickerton from Polydor Records with 'Pye Records' mobile recording studio set-up in Matthew Street, Liverpool, organised by his associates at Music &

Management of Victoria Street, London..
